Joe Theismann had a decision to make. Back in 1971 after coming in second in that year's Heisman Trophy vote the Notre Dame QB was drafted by the Minnesota Twins who took him as a shortstop and the Miami Dolphins who selected him with the 99th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Theismann turned down both options and instead played QB for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Then in 1974 Theismann inked a deal with the Washington Redskins serving as a punt returner until 1978 when he finally got the opportunity to step into the pocket as the team's quarterback. Theismann eventually threw for 25206 yards led the Redskins to victory in Super Bowl XVII and was the NFL MVP in 1983. Using a sliver marker Joe Theismann has hand signed this official NFL Duke football and he's added his uniform number 7 right next to his signature. A Steiner Sports Certificate of Authenticity is included.
